What Are We?
Southern Animal Cares mission is to bring high quality spay and neuter services to cats of Mecklenburg County and surrounding communities. We strive to make the lives of both our cats and their families better by decreasing the number of unwanted kittens born. Our fees are structured only to cover our overhead so we can continue to provide this service to our community. We are a nonprofit 501c3 organization.
About Our Clinic
Southern Animal Care has been a 501c(3) organization since 2014. It offered surgery to neuter and spay dogs and cats in places of the world with little access to veterinary care, in the Caribbean, North America, South America, and Central America.
After moving to Mecklenburg county, I started volunteering at the Lake Country SPCA. Throughout the last 3 years I have spayed and neutered their animals up for adoption with the help of my friend, Licensed Veterinary Technician, Cheryl Porter. The number of homeless, abandoned, and surrendered dogs and cats was heartbreaking. Now, Southern Animal Care has redirected its mission to helping with the Mecklenburg County Community to reduce the number of litters and homeless animals. I will be the only veterinarian doing surgery and we will have limited numbers of available appointments.
Initially we will only be taking cats as patients. Our facility is only licensed and equipped for spay and neuters. Only animals admitted for surgery will be able to receive additional treatment such as flea treatment, rabies vaccination, etc.
